Today I would like to ask you all to open your “hearts” up and help us as this wonderful organization called “A Taste of Home” which is working to “Stamp Out Hunger”. So since they can describe better what they are doing I have a post from them.
This is a link to the website that she has started for her foundation.
We are working on having a Stamp out Hunger Event on Feb 28, 2015 from 10-6 at Dave’s Sports Bar & Grill here in Cove. What people need to understand is that they need to stop and smell the roses so to speak and see what is around them. TO many people are going hungry and struggling. In this country or anywhere for that matter NO ONE should ever go hungry. No one should go without the basic things in life. I believe that everyone is entitled to know that they are cared for and that someone cares what happens to them. This foundation and what it stands for mean a lot to me. In one word that describes what the foundation of Operation: A taste of home is: its LOVE. sounds so simple to me but I know that its not to others. I know what its like to be homeless with a child. TO have everything you can manage to save in your car. We didn’t live on the streets thank goodness but we did live in a shelter. I got us out and in our home and I swore that would never happen again. So yes I do understand what its like to lose everything and pick myself back up and start over. It isn’t easy by any means. I was lucky and had someone to help me. Not everyone is lucky enough to have that help. Some struggle and struggle and still cant get the help they need.
Im also working on introducing a new program with in the foundation called STAMP OUT HUNGER INITIATIVE. It will be along the lines of the meals on wheels they have in Austin. I will be looking for volunteers to help with this. I will put together an application for people to fill out on how often they would like the meals and so forth. It will take some time to put together but that is my plan. As we go through the year we will be asking for Toys, Blankets, Clothing and non perishable food and pet supplies and food. People need to know we are here for them.
